Job Title: Grandparent Support Specialist
Vacancies: One (1) Part Time, One (1) year contract
Work Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM (16 hours per week)

Overview:
The Director of Elder Services seeks a dedicated Grandparent Support Specialist to provide resources, guidance, and emotional support to grandparents aged 60 and older who are raising their grandchildren, often due to the opioid crisis. The ideal candidate will have lived experience as a grandparent raising a grandchild, combined with strong communication and organizational skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance, resources, and emotional support to grandparents raising grandchildren, including those involved with DCF.
• Assist caregivers in navigating systems such as childcare, education, healthcare, and financial assistance.
• Create a safe and inclusive environment for caregivers to share experiences and challenges.
• Attend bi-monthly in-person support group meetings and take detailed notes.
• Participate in monthly facilitator meetings via Zoom with the Massachusetts Grandparent Commission.
• Assist in developing intake forms, support documents, and meeting agendas.
• Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and activities.
• Identify and connect caregivers with local resources, including financial assistance, counseling, and respite care.
• Keep the Resource Room organized and stocked with materials and information.
• Download and maintain resource materials on the designated computer.
• Collaborate with community partners to ensure caregivers have access to necessary services.
• Support the development of social media presence for the support group.
• Purchase food and materials for meetings.
• Assist with research to identify additional support services for grandparents raising grandchildren.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
• Clear understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Personal experience as a grandparent raising a grandchild highly preferred.
• Fluency in English and an additional language (ex: Spanish, Khmer, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Arabic) highly preferred.
