Honoring Choices Massachusetts
October 22, 2024

The Public Health Division is joining, with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Honoring Choices Massachusetts; a campaign to increase the number of residents who have a designated Health Care Agent and a completed Health Care Proxy.

The importance of these two initiatives is that if you are unable to advocate for yourself, your wishes can still be met.  Placing a heart on your driver’s license notifies first responders and medical teams of your willingness to donate organs/skin/tissue, should the unthinkable happen.

Having a designated Health Care Agent and a completed Health Care Proxy will ensure that your wishes are followed and provides relief to your family/friends that everything is in order when an emergency/crises arises.

The Honoring Choices Massachusetts campaign, which supports an effort to identify ways to address capacity constraints in hospitals, is advocating for anyone over the age of 18 to have a designated Health Care Agent and a completed Health Care Proxy document in place.
