Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is offered through Bridgewell and is run by two dedicated staff members, Matt Prahl and Lindsey Monahan.

What the EAP can help with
They can support you with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Locating childcare options or other family resources

  • Finding realtors, lenders, or financial guidance if you’re buying a home

  •  Connecting you to Legal Aid for divorce, adoption, and other legal matters (free or sliding scale)

  • Counseling for family issues, work dynamics, personal stress, or mental health concerns

Counseling and support services

  • At least 4 free counseling sessions per issue (with extensions if needed)

  • Sessions can be in person or via HIPAA-compliant Zoom

  • Flexible scheduling, including early morning or late appointments

  • Same-day or same-week support available

  • Couples counseling is also available

  • If longer-term care is needed, EAP staff can connect you quickly to therapists and medication managers who take your insurance (without the usual long wait times)

  • You can use the program multiple times per year for different concerns (each issue resets the 4-session allotment)

Who is eligible

  • City employees

  •  Spouses and children under 21

  • Friends or others in your life who may need support (even if they don’t work for the city)

Confidentiality
Confidentiality is taken very seriously:

  • EAP records are not shared with the city or general Bridgewell staff

  • Only minimal information is collected, and you don’t need to share your department

  • You can request charting with initials only

  • No diagnoses are documented since insurance is not involved

  • The city only receives aggregate usage numbers (no names), except in rare cases of safety concerns
