Mayor Jared C. Nicholson announced the three finalists for Lynn’s next police chief, who will succeed retiring Chief Christopher Reddy. The candidates — Deputy Chief Christopher Kelly, Captain Michael Kmiec and Captain William Sharpe — were determined by the Assessment Center administered according to Massachusetts Human Resources Division guidelines.
The selection process includes a public input phase, where residents will play a direct role in shaping the final decision. Members of the general public can submit discussion topics and questions that they believe are important for the next chief to address by clicking this link before the form closes on August 18th.
These public contributions will inform a Community Stakeholder Group convened by the mayor to interview each of the three finalists. Following the stakeholder review, Nicholson will conduct individual meetings with the candidates before making his appointment for the police chief position.
